Al Harthy and Eastwood to make Oman Racing by TF Sport’s long-awaited British GT return at Snetterton

27 July 2021

Oman Racing by TF Sport makes its long-awaited return to the Intelligent Money British GT Championship at Snetterton next weekend when Ahmad Al Harthy joins forces with Aston Martin Racing factory driver Charlie Eastwood.

Al Harthy, British GT3’s runner-up in 2014, was due to contest last year’s campaign with Jonny Adam and TF Sport until the global pandemic put paid to his entry. Now, Oman Racing’s Vantage will finally make its series debut some 17 months after it first appeared during the championship’s Media Day at Snetterton.

The Omani is no stranger to success in Norfolk after scoring a victory there in 2013, albeit at the wheel of a Porsche. He returns alongside Eastwood with whom he won the 2019 TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa before going on to clinch that year’s GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Pro-Am title.

“I’m delighted to be back racing in the UK, back in British GT, with Oman Racing and looking forward to racing at Snetterton once again,” said Al Harthy. “It is a very challenging year still with COVID-19 continuing to cause so many difficulties globally, but I’m very proud to be able to represent Oman in British GT once more and we would love to get some good results at Snetterton.”

Eastwood has already contested British GT’s blue riband event at Silverstone where he and Giacomo Petrobelli finished fourth overall in another of TF’s Aston Martins.

“After a good run out at Silverstone with Giacomo in June, it’s great to be paired with another strong Bronze-graded driver in Ahmad for the pair of races at Snetterton,” he said. “We enjoyed plenty of success as team-mates in Blancpain, in the new Vantage GT3 and we plan on bringing that across to the British GT Championship.”

Team boss Tom Ferrier added: “It’s great to have Ahmad back with us and flying the flag for Oman Racing in British GT. The combination of Ahmad and Charlie proved very strong in 2019, so this round was a great opportunity to pair them together once again. It’ll be the first time Ahmad has been back in the car since the Asian Le Mans Series at the start of the year, but I have no doubt he’ll be straight on the pace and looking for podium finishes.”

G-CAT PORSCHE ALSO CONFIRMED

G-Cat’s race-by-race entry is also competing at Snetterton, as well as Donington, after adding the two sprint races and season finale to its existing British GT schedule.

Am-Am pairing Shamus Jennings and Greg Caton have already raced at Brands Hatch and Silverstone, and are now also appearing next weekend after extending their British GT programme into the second half of 2021.

Snetterton hosts the first two of this season’s four 60-minute sprint races on August 8. Another pair follow at Oulton Park in September before British GT reverts to its two-hour endurance format for October’s #DoningtonDecider.
